Comparison of earthquake epicenters with the location of volcanoes are as follows:
- The divergent and convergent movement of tectonic plates boundaries is responsible for earthquakes as well as volcanoes.
- Some earthquake epicenters are found in areas with active volcanoes. However, not all active volcanoes are located in areas with earthquake epicenters.
- Currents called convection currents inside the earth provide the mechanism for tectonic plates movement which creates conditions that cause volcanoes and earthquakes.
