A variety of diseases affect cattle. Parasites are the common cause for these diseases. Parasites present on the body surface (called external parasites) of an animal cause skin diseases. The internal parasites include worms (in the stomach and intestine) and flukes (in the liver). Cattle are also affected by viral and bacterial diseases. However, vaccination can be given to prevent viral and bacterial diseases.

Mad cow disease is the viral disease of cattle which is fatal.

The cowpox is caused by the virus called Cow Pox Virus which is of the genus Orthpoxvirus. It is a type of skin disease found in animals like cow, cat, elephant and other zoo animals. This disease transmits to human by touching the infected teats of cows while milking them. Domestic cats are also responsible for transmitting this disease. Human cowpox is a milder version of disease small pox. The infection cures spontaneously within specific period of time but in severe cases medicines are applied.

Cattle's can be kept healthy by practicing proper cattle management. A good cattle shelter should have the following requirements -

Big, clean, dry & well ventilated.
Hygienic disposal of excreta.
Properly covered shelter to protect cattle from rain, heat & cold.
To maintain dryness floor must be little sloped.
Proper water arrangement should be available.
Proper protection from predators, pests, insects & Microbes.

Hope this will help you........ ✌
