A solid requires more energy (can be in the form of heat) to change its state than liquid as the molecules in the solid are tightly packed but in case of liquid substances, the molecules (or we can also say particles) are loosely packed. To change the state of a substance, we need to alter the intermolecular distance(distance b/w the particles) of the substance.
On the other hand, in the case of gases, a particular molecule has hardly any influence on any other molecule.
Thus, melting point of solid is more than the boiling point of a liquid.
