First You should've told what type of changes. So I'm going to tell about visual changes only.

There are things called themes. And as for you, You can say them to be the clothes of your browser. Themes make your browser look visually more attractive.
To apply a theme you need to go to "chrome webstore". It is a platform where you can add extensions to ANY browser and themes to your chrome browser. Well I will not tell what are extensions, as I will only get 5 points for answering your question. Ask another question for that.
In the left pane, click on themes tab\option. There You'll Find a lot of themes, select one of them and click on "add to chrome" button. Now, you're good to go.
Now, you have your theme applied but you want to change the background picture on your browser's home screen. Most browsers have that option in different settings or places. But for chrome there is a button at the bottom right corner of your browser home screen you'll find a pencil like option, Click on that button and a lot of options to select your background will appear. Select whether you want a solid color or a picture in background. Select what you want in background and you have your background applied.
Now, What if you want to change the font of your Browser?
To do that you'll go in your browser's settings. I'll tell you for chrome.
