First of all u should know about neo , iso .

\huge{\texbf\red{prefix neo }}}

The prefix neo is used with those chains which are straight and continuous means no substituent is attached .

\huge{\texbf\red{Example }}}

n_propyl alcohol

CH3_CH2_CH2_OH

This is also known as primary alcohol as alcoholic group is attached to first alkyl group

\huge{\texbf\red{prefix iso }}}

The prefix iso is used with those chains which have a methyl group attached to the second last carbon atom of the continuous chain .

\huge{\texbf\red{Example }}}

iso_propyl alcohol

(Refer the above drawing)

It is also called secondary alcohol , as alcoholic group is attached to second Carbon .

SO

As these given structures or chains are primary alcohol and secondary alcohol , So

We know that a test is performed to distinguish primary , secondary and tertiary alcohols that is :-
