1.Formalization-This refers to the degree to which rules, procedures, regulations and task assignments exist in written form. Written documentation indicating the procedures for acting deciding and communicating represent the formalization of the organizational activities. They exist before people are employed thus they regulate organizational behavior after one has been settled into a formal position.
2.Having an organizational chart outlining positions from top(vertically) and across (horizantally) and delineating a channel of command and communication is a formal structure. These formal roles and duties determine the behavior of those occupying the positions.
3.An organization should have a particular goal to achieve and this makes it a tool to achieve a particular purpose.
4.Rational-legal-authotity:Legitimate authority based on formal position of the authority figure coupled by beliefs by the subordinates that these arrangements represent the best way to achieve organizational objectives . this type of authority achieves a rational organization.
