How do you explain the formation of furanose structure for fructose
while glucose forms pyranose structure with same molecular formula

Explanation:

Furanose can form pyranose rings also by the hemiketal formation of carbonyl of second carbon and hydroxyl of sixth carbon. This results in formation of pyranose form of fructose. But the predominant form of fructose among both is furanose rings. In both these form the anomers are possible.
