n2 - n - 56

=> n2 +7n -8n - 56

=> n(n+7) -8(n+7)

=> (n+7)(n-8)

If given equation is equal to zero then,

n = -7 or n = 8

hi dear...

Notice 8×7=56 and 8−7=1

So

n^2 - n − 56 = n ^ 2 − ( 8−7 ) n − ( 8×7 )

= ( n−8 ) ( n+7 )

hope it helps...n
