In olden days gurukuls were the centres of education. The students used to live with the gurus and they took care of their all round development.

While in the present times, education is imparted in schools and colleges. The teachers impart secular knowledge. Extra-curricular activities in the school help to develop the other aspects of the student's personality. So the role of the teacher is mostly restricted to the classroom. But there are many teachers who are role models for their students. They mentor and nurture the students.

Some of the good qualities of the ancient gurus that I would like to adopt are:

Example is better than precept. I would like to live an exemplary life and be a role model for my students.

I would like to inspire them to be good citizens who uphold the moral values in society.

I would like to teach them values along with secular knowledge.

So that my students can develop an all round personality.

Well, there are basic difference in the ancient guru teaching and in the present day's guru teaching. The ancient guru act like role model for their children and don't only emphasis on the knowledge and information but also keep their concentration on the moral and value education. They help their students in the personality development and morality. While on the other hand the modern day teachers don't do the same they only rely on scientific knowledge of respective subject but don't give importance to the teaching of moral value and personality development .
As a teacher i would like to teach the value education and morality lesson to m students as the duty of a teacher is not only confined to the modern scientific teaching but students must be teach the value education for the better society development.
