How do you find the inverse of f(x)=4x and graph both f and f−1?

Hope it helps

Step-by-step explanation:

To graph the f(x) you just need to put numbers in x. for example

for x=0 => f(0) = 4*0 = 0

for x = 1 => f(1) = 4*1 = 4

for x = 2 => f(2) = 4*2= 8

2 numbers are enough but you can find more to make a more accurate graph.

Then you draw parallel lines from the x numbers and the y number.

for x = 0, y=0. for x=1, y=4. for x=2, y=0 (as shown above)

Then where those lines connect you put a dot and then you connect the dots.

To find the inverse you do the following

f(x) = 4x <=> y = 4x <=> you switch the y and x <=> x = 4y <=> you solve for y <=> y = x/4 <=> f^-1(x) = x/4

And to graph the inverse you do what you did for the f(x).

The graph should be something like the pictures
