Answer:

(x – 2) is one of the factors.

By dividing x3 + x2 - 7x + 2 by (x – 2),

⟹ (x – 2) (x2 + 3x - 1) = 0

⟹  (x2 + 3x - 1) = 0

=>   x = [-b +/- sqrt(-b^2 - 4ac)]/2a

=>   x = [-3 +/- sqrt((-3)^2 - 4*1*(-1))]/2*1

=>   x = [-3 +/- sqrt(13)] /2

 x = [-3 + sqrt(13)]/2          or           x = [-3 - sqrt(13)]/2

    = 0.302                                          = -3.302

This of the cubic equation solutions are x = 2, x =0.302  and x = -3.302
