How do you find the sum to nth term of the given series?

General formula:
FOR A.P.
if a is the 1st term
d is the common difference
a(n)is the nth term
and n is the no. of terms
then;
a(n)=a+(n-1)d


FOR G.P.
if a is the1st term
r is the common ratio
a(n) is the nth term
and n is the no. of terms
then;

a(n) = a{r}^{n - 1}
