One needs to type as follows for getting the attention of all team members to a message in a channel
- @general for messaging everyone in the general channel
- @team for notifying everyone on that team
- @channel for messaging everyone on that channel
- For getting someone's attention in a channel conversation or a chat you need to @mention them. By just typing @ before their name and then selecting them from the menu that appears.
- You can also mention someone merely by typing their name. Starting by capitalizing the first letter and as you proceed to type the name, a list of people will show for you to select from.
- When an @mention team member receives a notification, selecting it carries them directly to the point in the conversation where they were mentioned.
