Explanation:

Basically we have 4 fingers and a thumb in each of our hand.

There are few differences which make a thumb different from finger, such as it has only 2 phalanges (joined by hinge like joint) as compared to 3 phalanges in fingers.

A thumb also has a more mobile base as compared to finger.
