Ans: If any atom posses properties of both metals and non-metals then it is said to be a metalloid. But it is to be makesure that which of the properties of atom more predominently are with the atom, that ultimately decides the nature of atom. Example: If you take sodium: it posses majority of properties like a metal-it posses shiny nature, it is good conductor of heat and electricity. If you take Diamond (One of Allotrope of Carbon)-it posses majority of non-metal properties, so it is considered to be non-metal.

The property by which metals can be beaten into thin sheets.

Ductility
The property by which metals can be drawn into wires

Conductivity
Metals are able to conduct heat and electricity.

Metals produce a ringing sound when struck.

Metals are shiny.

Tensile strength
Metals are extremely strong except in case of sodium which is a soft metal.
