Although XeF2 have Trigonal bipyramidal geometry unlike CO2 which is linear sp3 hybridised , the shape turns out to be linear which is similar to CO2. Hence, CO2 and XeF2 are isostructural. Therefore, Isostructural species can be identified when their exact shapes are known.
