the woman in the poem Mirror is very upset with her image that appears in the mirror. It seems that she used to be very beautiful when she was younger. Now as she is getting old she cannot bear to look at her aging figure and is cross with the mirror. She is not able to accept the reality. In stead, she depends on candle light and moon light in order to appear comparatively finer.

We human being in general are reluctant to accept reality when it affects us adversely. We try our best to avoid facing it.  We hide as long as possible in the false-reality and when ultimately we cannot but face it, we get shattered.

It is better for us to realize that reality is something which will not alter however much we try to change it. Everything in this world is temporary. That is why we are termed as mortals, meaning everything in this world is subjected to death and decay. If we realize this and accept this, it is easy for us to accept old age or even death.
