Patol babu used to live in kanchrapara when he used to have a passion for the stage. He played the lead roles in many of the amateur theatricals , in the plays put out by the neighbourhood , in Jatras etc... he was always on demand. Neverthless it was safe to say that there was a time that people bought tickets especially to watch him on the stage.
But times had changed. now Patol babu struggled to earn a living. Gone were the days when he used to act. Now , since he had to feed a family of his own , he had been paying visits to a small establishment dealing in a scrap iron where he'd been promised a job.
when he got a role in the movie , his joy knew no bounds. Not only did he need the money but it was also coming from his passion. But this happiness was short lived. He came to know that the role consisted him of saying a sound "Oh!". But he remembered his idol , his mentor's words of advice of never differentiating a main lead from a minor one . So he played the small part and left the set without even getting the money for his acting even though he knew that he needed the money. This shows that Patol babu was a dedicated actor. That he did'nt work for money.
