How do you know when to use "a" or "the" is a sentence? For example, "Are you riding a bus?" or "Are you riding the bus?"

it is dependent on our pronunciation if we say the are you Riding a bus it means we are talking about a bus a common bus but if we say are you riding the bus it means we are talking about a particular bus
