How do you name C5H11OH if it is a straight-chained alcohol?

Formula of alkanes = CnHn2+2 ; n=1,2,3,...

According to question we get 5 carbons . Then it will be pent since 5 is pent .

again, as it is alkane we have to put (ane) after pent .

And also, there is -OH ,we have to put the suffix ol.

We remove the letter "e" from "ane" as we got vowel letter "o" after it .
