Explanation:

AIM :- To prove that sunlight is essential for photosynthesis

APPARATUS :- Potted plant , iodine solution,black paper ,light screen

PROCEDURE :-

1.Take a potted plant and destruct it by keeping in the dark for 3-4 days

2.Cover one of its leave with black paper where a design is cut.

3.Fix the black paper on leaf and ensure that light does not enters the black paper.

4.Place this plant in the sun for few hours

5.After placing ,bring the plant and take the leaf which was covered with black paper and test the leaf with iodine solution [starch test] and observe

OBSERVATION :-

We observe that the place where the design is cut in black paper on leaf ,turns blu black indicating the presence of starch.

RESULT :-

The experiment proves that light is necessary for photosynthesis.
