Given : standard form of the equation of line

To Find :  rewrite standard form of the equation to slope intercept form

Solution:

standard form of the equation of line is

ax + by + c  = 0

Slope intercept form is  

y = mx + c

Intercept form is

x/p  + y/q = 1    

To Convert ax + by + c  = 0  into  y = mx + c

Step 1 :

Take ax and c on RHS

=> by   = -ax  - c

Divide both sides by b

=> y = - ax/b  - c/b

Required slope intercept form .

Hence slope = -a/b and y intercept is  - c/b
