As cell is a living organism because it has organelles that respire and excrete, it has a definite life span. All living organisms die at some point of time. That is why cells also die. Cells in our human body die continuously every second.

Due to presence of organelles such as mitochondria and lysosomes,we can say that a cell also has a life span and death like an organism.

Explanation:

The cell is comprised of many number of organelles among which two are most important namely mitochondria and lysosomes. The former is known as respiration center of the cell, whereas the latter is known as suicidal bags of the cell.

It is mitochondria which provides the required energy to the cell and helps in the functioning of the cells. On the other hand, if the cells get damaged or aged it is the lysosomes present in the cells which degrades the damaged cell by itself due to a process called programmed cell death or apoptosis.

From head to toe, all living organism is composed of different types of cells. It is because of rapid functioning of the cells, the growth and development of the living organism occurs. Due to rapid functioning, the cell may get damaged and the body needs development of new cells to carry out the rapid functioning process.

Based upon the functioning process, the cell life span depends. Rapid functioning cell has less life span whereas slow and steady functioning cell has more life span.

For example: Life span of skin epidermal cells is 10-30 days. After this time it dies and new cells are developed in the region.
