How do you solve 2 root 2 + root 2?

Adding roots is like adding like terms in a polynomial, so as long as the number inside of the radical (also known as a radicand) is the same for both of numbers, then you can add the numbers outside of the root. The extra 2 is not added to it because it is not multiplied to root 2.

It’s the same basic idea as 2x+2x+2. The variables are the same, so the terms can be added together with the constant not added with the terms.
