4x - 2(x - 4) = -2 + 5x - 2

4x - 2x + 8 = 5x - 4

2x + 8 = 5x - 4

2x - 5x = - 4 - 8

- 3x = - 12

3x = 12

x = 12 / 3

x = 4

4x-2x+8 = - 4+5x

= 2x+8= - 4+5x

=2x-5x= - 4-8

=-3x = - 12

=3x = 12. (minus and minus cancels)

=x=12/3

=x=4

So the required ans is x=4
