How do you solve 6x+2y=−2 and 4x+y=1 using substitution?

6x+2y=-2

2(3x+y)=-2

3x+y=-1

y=-1-3x

4x+y=1

putting value of y=-1-3x

4x-1-3x=1

x=2

y=-1-3x

y=-1-3(2)

y=-1-6

y=-7
