Given :-

x + y = 15 --------------------(1)

4x + 3y = 38-----------------(2)

By substitution method :-

from eq (1)

x + y = 15

x = 15 - y

Now substitute " x " value in equation (2)

→ 4x +3y = 38

→ 4 (15 - y ) + 3y = 38

→ 60 - 4y + 3y = 38

→ 60 - y = 38

→ -y = 38 - 60

→ -y = -22

y = 22

Now substitute " y " value in equation (1)

x + y = 15

x + 22 = 15

x = 15 - 22

x = -7

VERIFICATION :-

x + y = 15

-7 + 22 = 15

15 = 15

→ 4x + 3y = 38

4 (-7) + 3 (22) = 38

-28 + 66 = 38

38 = 38.

Answers :- x = -7 , y = 22.
