How do you solve the system 2x – 2y = –2 and y = 5x – 19?

2x-2y=-2 ------------------(1)

=> x-y=-1

y=5x-19

=>5x-y=19 ------------------(2)

(1)×5=5x-5y=-5 ----------------------(3)

(2)--(3) =>5x-y-5x+5y=19+5

=>4y =24

=>y=6

putting y=6 in eq. no.(1)

x-6=-1

=>x=5

therefore,

required x=5 , y=6
