How do you solve x+y=15 and x−y=−3?

x + y = 15

(or) y + x = 15 ....( i )

x - y = -3

y - x = 3 ......( ii )

Equation (i) - (ii)

y = 12

Substituting the value of y in (i) , we get

12 + x = 15

x = 3
