y - 2x = 6 -------------(1)

x + 4y = 15 -------------(2)

Multiple the eqⁿ (2) by 2

(x + 4y) 2 = 15 × 2

2x + 8y = 30 -------------(3)

Add eqⁿ (1) and (3), we get

y - 2x + 2x + 8y = 6 + 30

9y = 36

y = 36/9

y = 4

Substitute y =4 in eqⁿ (1), we get

4 - 2x = 6

2x = 4 - 6

2x = - 2

x = - 2/2

x = - 1

Therefore, x = - 1 and y = 4.
