The Rajputs are fine, brave men, and retain the feudal instinct strongly developed. Pride of blood is their chief characteristic, and they are most punctilious on all points of etiquette.

Answer:
Contribution of Rajputs towards our country :
- During the British Raj in India, a number of Rajput kings, princes and chiefs are known to have supported the nationalist movement against the colonizers. Most Rajputs exercised their prudence in contributing to the freedom movement on the one hand and maintaining diplomatic relations with the British on the other. When it comes to stories of anti-British nationalism among the kings, one hears legends such as Tantia Tope, Tipu Sultan, Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi to name a few.
- Auva, the village is known for the siege of Auwa Fort by British forces in 1857 when several Thakur from the Pali region led by Thakur Kushal Singh of Auwa clashed with the British. Auwa Fort was surrounded by the British Army and the conflict lasted for many days. The fortress and city still bear the scars of that siege. Captain Mason was shot en route to Auwa and his severed head was hung on the fort's gate. The British destroyed the fort and palace. The temples and their idols were not spared either. The statue of goddess Mahakali that was brought to Ajmer is still kept in Ajmer Museum.A surviving cenotaph was erected where Mason fell in battle.
- Much of the 1857 revolt against the British was fought on the plains of Uttar Pradesh, but a small unassuming town in Rajasthan has a story of its own to tell. A story unrecorded or recognized by the world. This small town called Auwa in ancient Marwar, now in Pali, had fought the British for 12 days and the ruling family had to go into exile for 12 years. Auwa chief Kushal Singh offered support to the mutineers. Raising his own army, he killed Captain Mason, the political agent in Jodhpur, in and hung his head on the gate of Auwa Fort.
