Anees Jung had an urge to do something for the betterment of the downtrodden and underprivileged people. She often worked in this regard. She went to slums where they lived, and interacted with them and tried to sensitize people and bring their plight to the notice of the government.
In the chapter we see her going to Seemapuri first, and then to Firozabad. Even in the chapter Lost spring she endeavoured to bring their miserable conditions to light. She also raised the issues that are responsible for not improving their lot.
