Answer:

Explanation:

Disclaimer:

A bungee cord has a spring constant of 112 N/m. How far will it stretch if a 50.0 kg mass is hung from it? the force constant depend upon the mass of the load .

Concept:

The concept of spring constant will help us to solve the question.

Given:

The bungee cord's spring constant is 112 N/m and It has a mass of 50.0 kg .

To Find:

We have to find out how far the bungee cord stretched.

Solution:

The spring constant can be expressed as k . The  bungee cord's mass is m .

The distance how far it stretched is d .

Force on the bungee cord is caused by mass m.

So we can write the equation as W = mg ........(1)

Taking into account the spring force concept,

W = kd      ..............(2)

From the above two equations, we will get

mg = kd

Then d = \frac{mg}{k}

Put the value in the above equation.

\mathrm{d}=(50 \mathrm{~kg})\left(9.8 \mathrm{~m} / \mathrm{s}^{2}\right) /(112 \mathrm{~N} / \mathrm{m})= 4.375 m

Therefore, the distance is 4.375 m .
