Textile or cloth used for making blankets used to trap air and also don't allow air to escape from the air which is trapped earlier in blanket becomes warm due to our body's external heat and this is the reason it keep us warm in winter. and this is one of the reason too that it prevents ice from melting because it doesn't allow vapour of ice to go out and air is trapped in it.
