How does a bullet pierce a wooden block

Bcoz the force exerted by the bullet is many times stronger than the resistance offered by the wooden block so the block cannot block the bullet and the bullet pierces the block

When the bullet is fired, wooden block has zero kinetic energy, as it is assumed at rest, and all the KE is due to speed and mass of bullet. When bullet gets imbedded in the wooden block, a part of the energy will be required to make a hole in the wooden block where the bullet will get embedded. This part of KE gets reduced from the total KE of wooden block embedded with bullet when it starts sliding on the rough surface. As it will slide further, more kinetic energy will keep on reducing due to friction of wooden block on the rough surface. So, KE will not remain conserved in this case.
