How does a cell maintains the potential difference across the conductor?

An electical cell is mostly having chemicalinside it. Also it has electrodes made up of reacting metals and non-metals.

These electrodes react with chemical inside the cell and produce charge.

This charge thus produces potential difference between the two electrodes.
