how does a cotton field appear just before its harvest

during the entire week earlier to harvest, it will look as if there was a good snow fall and entire topography will look totally different.The original greenery will be replaced, the like rose coloured leaves would have almost gone dry and overflowing BOLLS of cotton will swell and cover those dry leaves making every pod look like a vanilla cone of ice cream
