Cyclotron is used to accelerate very small particles of matter .

Betatron are accelerators which are used to accelerate negatively charged particles. It is modified cyclotron and alternating current in primary coil accelerates electrons in vacuum around circular path. Betatron was the frst particle accelerator which was able to produce electron beam with simple electric gun.
