The fuse consist of a thin wire through will current flows. The basic purpose of this wire is to melt off making a short circuit, when the high magnitude current flows through it.Hence current flow is restricted further due to this short circuit and rest of the circuitry and appliances are saved from getting damaged or short circuiting.
