- The 9th sternum has a pair of slender unjointed anal styles.
Female cockroaches:
- The abdomen is shorter and wider.
- The hindwings reach up to the tip of the abdomen.
- The 8th and 9th abdominal terga are hidden by the 7th tegram. So, ventrally only the first seven sterna are visible.
- The 7th, 8th and 9th abdominal segments invaginate to form a brood pouch, or gynatrium, which serves as a mound for the ootheca.
- Anal styles are absent.
