Answer:

How can a man become a god?

I am guessing you have read this pervasive Mormon (LDS) Philosophy by LeGrand Richards “As Man is, God once was. As God is, Man may become” somewhere.

This “unique” philosophy, though not “scripture” in the LDS Church, is every bit quoted as any other philosophy within the church.

While this philosophy is unique amongst “christian” churches, it is not an original concept, having been discussed for hundreds of years in various organisations.

Compare this to Jesus reported sayings “If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?”

Then consider Arthur C Clarke’s sayings “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from Magic”

The idea of a God being a generous “sponsor” of his “children” makes a lot of sense. So, at what stage would a loving parent deny any benefit from their “children” ?

For starters, modern man is already a “God” compared to the Kings and Queens of only 200 years ago. I can watch the weather across the whole world in seconds, I can see the wars and armies around the whole world as posted in say Youtube. I can gain insight into the lives and behaviours of most of the worlds leaders and government officials. I can talk to any of my family, anywhere around the world in seconds, and send them money in hours across the continents.

Modern man is altering the whole climate and geography of the whole planet. When I had my eye operation to restore my sight - it wasn't a miracle like reportedly Jesus performed, it was just $2,000 to a good Opthamologist.

I can travel to anywhere in the world in days, for relatively little money. I can send my opinion to hundreds of thousands of people around the world in ten seconds. We are on the edge of understanding aging, travelling in space etc. It seems anything we can investigate, we can do.

So why couldn't there be “God(s)” as a person who has learned and developed over hundreds and thousands of years, and what else could he/she/they want except to encourage other intelligent beings to be the wise, powerful and kind entities that would be an asset to the Universe ?

Proof ? None I can think of.

Statistical probability ? Well, after over 40 billion years, and over one hundred billion Galaxies with three times as many planets , maybe not impossible
