it is forms due to refractuon of light when rain occurs our earth contain water vapours in atmosphere when sunlight cross in these water light they refract or disperes them and help to make rainbow

Rainbow occurs when it rains.We know that sunlight is the mixture of 7 colors.So when the sun light passes through the rain it is scattered in to 7 colors known as refraction.
They occur at the opposite side of the sun.
