when sun shines during rain then rainbow usually forms because there the tiny transparent drops of water act as a prism.we know Sunrays are of white colour and when this white ray/white light pases through the drops of water, the white light splits in 7 colours (vibgyor).this is why rainbows are usually found near waterfalls.
