It is the quantity of a particular substance that can be dissolved in a particular solvent to form a saturated solution at a given temperature. It depends on the physical and chemical properties of the solute and solvent as well as on temperature.

For most of solutes the solubility increases with increase in temperature.

If the temperature of saturated solution increases then solubility of the solution increases. So that further a little amount of solute can be added to it, that forms a supersaturated solution.
Ex: Solubility of common salt (NaCl) in 100 grams of water is 38grams. With the increase in temperature further amount salt can be added to it to make it a supersaturated solution.
