Number of sperms are present to fertilize one ova but the healthiest one only fertilize it.
It takes about 24 hours for a sperm to fertilize the egg.
At the time of fertilisation, the sperm plasma fuses with the egg's plasma membrane and the sperm head disconnects from its flagellum.
Then the egg travels down the Fallopian tube to reach at the uterus.
The surface of egg is changed so as to prevent the entering of another sperm.
