Tabla with a tight membrane vibrates at a higher pitch than a tabla with a loose membrane because due to the tension between them i.e tighter membranes cause vibrations at higher pitch rather than the loose one as it will produce deep pitches due to the weak tension in its membrane.

hope it helps you
