Working of Universal indicator:

  • A universal indicator is mainly a pH indicator prepared of a solution of numerous compounds that shows some flat color variations over a wide variety of pH values to specify the acidity or alkalinity of solutions.  
  • pH indicators sense the presence of H+ and OH-. They do this by rejoining with H+ and OH-: they are themselves weak acids and bases.
