How does acid rain destroy architecture and freshwater organisms?

Actually acid rain is said to be the first rain of rainy season , as it collects all the pollution in air like CO2, CARBON MONOXIDE AND etc. all these pollutants pollute the first rain and make is acidic , this reacts with the sculptures and monuments.e.g. TAJ MAHAL was totally white but now it's pale yellow
