how does adding or removing the tail affect the kite?what about the long or short tail?

We connect the tail in the bottom side of kite just because we want to stay it steady.When we connect the tail in the kite,the weight of all the system focussed on the tail means the center of gravity will be concentrated at the tail.so,the kite will remain steady in the air.if we connect long tail,the kite will become more steady as in the short.........
