The addition of fertilizers in soil is very harmful for us as they penetrate through soil and reaches the ground water table. Also ,addition of fertilizers increases the minerals of water which supports the growth of algale bloom . This leads to a layer of algae which consumes and decreases the level of oxygen in water. This leads to the death of organisms living in water due to lack of oxygen, this process is known as eutrophication.

Excess of fertilizers are washed away into the surrounding water bodies. Thus, concentration of nitrates and phosphorus in the ground and surface water increases making it unfit for use.
